Just under an hour outside of Denver, hiking through Golden Gate Canyon State Park's Forgotten Valley transports you to another time and space. The hike will start from Bridge Creek trailhead, gaining 1,200 feet in elevation along 3 miles of the Burro Trail where we'll make our way to the rocky summit outcrop of "Windy Peak." From there, we'll hike down 2 miles on the Mountain Lion trail through the Forgotten Valley. In Forgotten Valley, we'll stop for lunch and a yin yoga class at Tallman Ranch, an old homestead with several cabins still intact. There will be time to explore and relax at this historic site before we head back.
Sunday, August 11th, 2013 at 7:30AM we’ll meet at Whole Foods Capitol Hill (900 E. 11th Ave., Denver, CO 80208).

The earliest known occupants of this area were tribal groups who lived in the area between 12,000 and 7,500 years ago. The Tallman family sailed from Sweden in 1870, settling along Nott Creek (now called Forgotten Valley) in 1876.
