yin yoga
A quiet yet profound and highly therapeutic style of yoga that is available to all students at all levels. The power of Yin is in its long-held relaxed floor postures. This kind of stretch stimulates the deep, connective "Yin" tissues of the body, affecting not only the physical body, but also energetic aspects of the self. Yin yoga strengthens the flow of prana (life force) or chi, maintains the health of the meridian system of the body, and as an additional bonus contributes to the mindfulness necessary for a successful meditation practice. It is a logical balance to dynamic, muscular, "yang" forms of yoga and/ or strenuous exercise. It is excellent for students looking to advance deeper into their practice as individuals are challenged to sit in the pure presence of awareness.

yin-yang yogaThe Yin-Yang relationship is one of ultimate balance. In this style students learn to surrender into stillness and energetically utilize muscle. A Yin-Yang practice allows the muscles to warm up, lubricate, and keeps individuals from trying to push the self into various postures, thus decreasing any chance of injury. This form of yoga allows individuals to cultivate a certain wholeness as it allows energy to flow at a deeper level with less effort. It connects meditation and asana on a very different level and lets you explore your own edges.
